Look: Emu found wandering loose in Virginia city

Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Police in Roanoke, Va., shared a photo of an emu found running loose through the city.

The Roanoke Police Department posted a photo to Facebook showing the flightless Australian bird standing next to a fence separating it from a resident's back yard.

"Is this your emu!?" the post said. "Please call dispatch non-emergency to come collect your friend."

Police later updated the post to say the owner of the emu had been identified. No further details were offered.
