Looking to 2021 travel? Southwest announces routes, deals for new Chicago, Colorado Springs flights

Southwest Airlines' new flights to Chicago O'Hare will debut in February and new service to Colorado Springs will follow a month later.

The airline has announced a flurry of new flights in the past month as it seeks to lure vacationers traveling during the pandemic but didn't provide details on timing or routes beyond saying the first half of 2021.

On Wednesday, Southwest detailed its plans.

Flights to Chicago O'Hare, which the airline is expanding to because it's running out of room at crosstown Midway Airport, begin Feb. 14.

Southwest, which offers more than 200 daily flights from Midway and dominates the airport, plans to start with 20 daily nonstop flights from O'Hare to five cities: Baltimore; Nashville, Tennessee; Dallas Love Field; Denver and Phoenix. Southwest has big operations in each. One-way introductory fares range from $39 between O'Hare and Nashville and $109 to Phoenix. American and United each have hubs at O'Hare.

Southwest's flights to Colorado Springs, its fourth destination in Colorado, begin March 11. The airline plans to offer up to 13 nonstop flights a day to five destinations: Denver, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Dallas Love Field and Chicago Midway. One-way introductory fares range from $29 to Denver to $89 to Chicago.

Southwest has yet to announced the start date or routes for three other new destinations: Houston Bush Intercontinental; Savannah, Georgia, and Jackson, Mississippi.
