Love Is Blind Season 6: Are Amy Cortés and Johnny McIntyre Still Together?

We all enjoy Love Is Blind for the drama, but every season there’s at least one couple whose love story makes us all collectively swoon.

For season 6, that couple is definitely Johnny McIntyre and Amy Cortés. These lovebirds were the first to get engaged in the pods, and their journey has been (mostly) smooth sailing. Are wedding bells in their future? Keep reading to find out…but yeah, it's looking good.

Here’s everything we know about the pair, including their backgrounds, current relationship status, and where they are now.

Who are they?

Amy Cortés, 28, is an e-commerce specialist with a musical side; her Netflix bio states she learned to play the ukulele during COVID-19 lockdown. She also loves taking photos and is openly looking for an Instagram husband who can snap a good pic. I mean, aren’t we all?

Johnny McIntyre is also 28 and is an account executive. According to Netflix, he loves to snowboard and wants to learn how to fly a plane. So maybe they can both take Instagram photos of each other? Sounds like a good compromise.

What went down on the show?

This season McIntyre and Cortés have emerged as the clear winners for the title of most stable couple (although with all the drama this year, that’s not exactly hard).

Still, these two are cute! They immediately connected in the pods over their shared interests like anime and their focus on their families, both present and (hopefully) future. They were the first couple this season to get engaged, and McIntyre’s look of awe when he saw her for the first time could melt even the coldest of hearts. Then they made out, naturally.

Their bliss has continued pretty smoothly so far during their Love Is Blind journey, with Cortés hitting it off with McIntyre’s two sisters and the couple attending dance classes for their upcoming wedding (they even talked about finances without fighting).

However, one issue between them has raised eyebrows among viewers: birth control.

In episode seven, McIntyre told fellow podster Laura Dadisman that the couple had not had sex yet because Cortés was not on birth control, and he was worried about an accidental pregnancy. In the subsequent episode the couple discussed his fears about having kids too soon, and Cortés’s reluctance to get on birth control, with McIntyre even bringing up a vasectomy, then a reversal, to solve the issue. But even this wasn’t really a fight, with the couple agreeing they just needed to keep talking about it to work it out.

When viewers saw the episode, though, they had a lot of thoughts. Like, condoms exist? And it shouldn’t all be on her, right?

McIntyre responded to the backlash in an interview with Us Weekly, admitting he needs to read up on his contraceptives.

“We wanted to make sure we’re on the same page,” he told the magazine. “Me really not knowing a lot about birth control, contraceptives, things of that nature made it difficult to really have a good conversation right away because I was uninformed.”

Cortés also defended McIntyre in a post on her Instagram stories, saying that her fiancé had a “fear of an unplanned pregnancy that is rooted in his upbringing, which is more his story.”

“He never pressured me into taking birth control in that scene or off camera, he simply expressed how he thought women did it and even admitted that he had never thought much of it,” she wrote. “We live in a country where sex education is not the best, sadly. His willingness to learn and explore more options without any pressure was something I respected and appreciated as a woman.”

The couple continued to chat about the issue in episode 11, with McIntyre admitting that he hadn’t realized how serious of a procedure a vasectomy was. He said he is doing his research, though, and is committed to figuring it out. Cortés also said she is considering her birth control options. (More on this soon.) Hey, we love a couple who can communicate!

Did they get married on the show and are they still together?

McIntyre and Cortés did get married on the show! The pair were the only couple from season 6 to mutually say “I do” at the altar, and they seemed to have a completely drama-free wedding. Not that we’re surprised.

During the season 6 reunion, which aired on March 13, the couple revealed that they’re still happily together. McIntyre said the past year has been “easy.” When asked if they've had any fights since getting married, both said no. They just…talk. Imagine that. Again, we love a couple who can communicate!

As for the birth control of it all, McIntyre admits he didn’t know much about it until he talked to Cortés. But after doing their own individual research, they came back together to come up with a solution they were both comfortable with. “We figured it out,” Cortés says. “And that’s all that matters.”
