Lowcountry SCISA football coach stepping down after two seasons

Hilton Head Prep football coach Dustin Etheridge is stepping down after two seasons with the school.

Etheridge confirmed his departure to The Island Packet on Friday afternoon. LowCoSports was the first to report the move.

“It was time to move on. I’m thankful for the kids and parents at Hilton Head Prep,” Etheridge said. “They were so supportive and the scoreboard did not reflect how much our kids have grown and the successes they had. I will miss them all.”

Etheridge took over for Dave Adams and the Dolphins went winless in his two seasons as Hilton Head Prep moved up from South Carolina Independent School Association class 2A to 3A. Hilton Head Prep was Etheridge’s first head coaching job.

Before arriving at Hilton Head Prep Etheridge was an assistant at SCISA powerhouse Hammond and also had stops at Heathwood Hall and Ben Lippen. He also was an assistant coach at Newberry College and student defensive assistant at South Carolina under defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson.
