Lucas Wayne Windsor sentenced for Mission bank robbery believed to be inside job

One of the men involved in a bank robbery police described as an 'inside job' was sentenced to five years and two months in prison for his role.

Lucas Wayne Windsor admitted he tried to steal thousands of dollars from the Bank of Montreal in the southwest community of Mission last November.

Calgary police said at the time that the robbers tied up the bank employees with zip-ties and locked them in a room.

The suspects later fled the scene but were arrested nearby.

Last week, Windsor pleaded guilty to robbery, forcible confinement and wearing a mask.

Windsor's lawyer, Balfour Der says he's pleased with the sentence.

"It's at the lower end of what would be an acceptable range," said Der, "I think it was important to get it lower to recognize that he's a very young fellow, only 21 years old, no criminal record, he was a really productive member of society beforehand and just sort of fell of the rails on this thing."

Three others still face charges in connection with the robbery, including one of the bank employees who was initially considered a victim before her arrest about a month later.
