Lucy Liu Shares Her 9-Year-Old Son's Sweet Reaction When Attending His First Movie Premiere with Mom: 'I Almost Burst Into Tears'

Lucy Liu's son is proud to watch his supermom on the big screen.

The Kill Bill actress, 56, shared details from her son Rockwell's, 9, first experience at one of her movie premieres on an episode of Live With Kelly and Mark.

"He was excited, and it was the first live-action that he's ever seen in general and seeing it that large his heart was beating," she shared of Rockwell's recent experience at the Red One premiere. "He was sweating. He was doing the full experience. He dropped the popcorn."

"I think he forgot that I was in the movie, and then, he saw me and started hugging my arm and said he was so proud of me," she continued. "I almost burst into tears."

The Charlie's Angels star welcomed her first and only son via surrogacy in August 2015. It was something that she didn't even think was possible until she was cast in Elementary.

“It just seemed like the right option for me because I was working and I didn’t know when I was going to be able to stop,” the Elementary star told PEOPLE in 2016. “I decided that was probably the best solution for me, and it turned out to be great.”

"I didn't realize how quickly babies progress," she added of Rockwell, who was 8 months old at the time. "Very basic things that you just take for granted. They're just this little lump of flesh, and then all the sudden they're turning around, they're observing you and they're smiling and they're interacting. It's a magical experience."
