Luka Gordic's accused killer Arvin Golic appears in court in North Vancouver

Arvin Golic — the man charged with manslaughter in the stabbing death of 19-year-old Luka Gordic in Whistler, B.C. — will remain in custody after a decision over whether to grant bail was delayed until later in June.

The family of the victim — who was killed on the Victoria Day long weekend — was in court for Golic's bail hearing on Thursday in North Vancouver, along with dozens of supporters.

Two courtrooms were needed to house the overflow of onlookers, many wearing black t-shirts reading: #JusticeforLuka.

Golic, dressed in red prison pants, appeared calm during the hearing, while family members of the young man he's accused of stabbing were admonished by the judge for gasping as evidence was presented.

Leaving the court house, Golic's father, Haris, expressed his condolences to the deceased teenager's family.

"I can't express my grief to the family... It's deeply impacted me and everybody."

"I presume that my kid is innocent. I'm really sorry for what happened."

3 other teens charged with manslaughter

Gordic died on a trip to Whistler. He was walking with friends around Whistler village when he became separated in the early hours of May 17, after going into a 7-11 to buy chips.

As he left the convenience store, police say he was swarmed by up to 10 teenagers, and stabbed multiple times.

Three other teens are also charged with manslaughter in Gordic's death, but they are under 17, so must remain unidentified. Two were released on bail last week.
