Why Alibaba Stock Was Climbing Today

Shares of Alibaba (NYSE: BABA) were gaining today after fears about Founder Jack Ma being "missing" were put to rest when Ma made his first public appearance in three months. Alibaba had slumped in recent weeks after the Chinese government announced an antitrust investigation into Alibaba and blocked the IPO of Ant Group, Alibaba's former financial subsidiary, in November. Concerns that Ma had mysteriously disappeared had also weighed on the stock, but that is no longer a factor.
