Macaulay Culkin comeback continues with 'American Horror Story' role

Macaulay Culkin is officially on the comeback trail.

The 39-year-old former child star has landed a plum role in American Horror Story, his first ever recurring TV role.

The Home Alone actor will join Sarah Paulson and Kathy Bates for the tenth series of of the hit show which is due to return to screens later this year.

The show's creator Ryan Murphy announced the cast list with a video on Instagram, set to the tune of Orville Peck's Dead Of Night.

The Home Alone star has made television appearances over the years but this will be his first series regular role on the small screen. He last appeared on the big screen in Seth Green’s 2019 drama Changeland, which didn’t receive a theatrical release in the UK.

Culkin shot to fame as Kevin McCallister in the first two Home Alone films, released in 1990 and 1992, and he went on to have a hugely successful career as a child actor appearing in My Girl, The Good Son, and Richie Rich.

He achieved critical acclaim for his first adult role in 2003’s Party Monster before stepping back from the limelight to focus on musical pursuits including a pizza-themed Velvet Underground covers band, The Pizza Underground.

He’s recently started making headway reigniting his acting career, sharing that he auditioned for Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood.

The new series of AHS will see the return of a number of staples of the franchise, including Paulson and Evan Petes, who both sat out last season for the first time on the series.

The upcoming episodes will also see the return of previous season stars Bates, Billie Lourd, Finn Wittrock, Lily Rabe, Adina Porter, Leslie Grossman and Angelica Ross.

Each season of the show is conceived as a self-contained miniseries, following a different set of characters and settings but frequently uses returning cast members in new roles.

The most recent series of the anthology horror series, which was created by Murphy and Brad Falchuk, was set in the summer of 1984.

Previous series have been subtitled Coven, Asylum, Freak Show and Roanoke.
