A would–be robber who put a lot of effort into trying to break into a Greco Pizza in Saint John on Monday morning, walked away disappointed.
At around 3:20 a.m., a surveillance video captured a man using the tools on a Swiss Army knife to unscrew all the screws around the restaurant door, removing a pane of glass at the Somerset Street location.
The Saint John Police said the painstaking process took about 40 minutes.
But when the suspect got inside the north end restaurant, staff had already completed the deposit and the cash register was empty.
Police say they've seen armed robberies at that location before — but not this kind of approach.
The identification unit is reviewing the surveillance video with the aim of tracking down the suspect.
