Macon woman found dead in Crawford County identified, coroner rules homicide. What we know

A 35-year-old woman found dead in Crawford County last week was from Macon, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday.

The woman, who was identified as Callie Brooke Goolsby, was found dead along Smith Chapel Road in Crawford County by a county roads worker. The Crawford County Coroner’s Office ruled her death a homicide on Friday.

Goolsby’s remains were sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab for an autopsy. Crawford County Sheriff Lewis S. Walker requested GBI to lead the investigation, according to the release.

The investigation was still ongoing Monday.
