The Queen of Pop spent a night out with her son, David Banda, on Saturday at New York City’s Barclays Center, where the duo watched the World Lightweight Championship between boxers Gervonta Davis and Rolando Romero.
Banda, who’s just 16-years-old, looked chic wearing a tight plunging red dress from the Adidas x Gucci collection that's set to launch on June 7. He paired it with several silver necklaces, chain bracelets, yellow tinted sunglasses and a black bag covered in white hand-painted phrases, including “Madame X,” the name of Madonna’s 2019 album. He also added a pair of sneakers from the Balenciaga x Adidas collection.
Madonna herself also looked high-fashion, as she posed alongside her son and held his hand. The 63-year-old sported an all-black classic oversized tracksuit from Balenciaga’s collaboration with Adidas, several cross necklaces, pink tinted sunglasses, black leather gloves and a small black briefcase. She paired the look with black platform open-toed heels and eventually put on a lace full face mask.
The “Vogue” singer shared their coordinated looks on Instagram, and fans filled the post with love for the mother-and-son duo’s family connection.
“Love the chemistry between you and David!” one fan commented.
“David’s affection for Madonna is something so beautiful to see!” said another.
“Love you and your David’s love,” someone else replied. “From that fragile baby boy in your arms to this strapping young handsome man.”
People also praised Banda for his confidence and growth as a fashion icon.
“David is the coolest guy on Earth right now,” one person exclaimed.
“Love literally everything about this! David is an example of awesomeness!” wrote a fan. “So wonderful to witness the growth all around!”
“It was incredibly brave of David to propose gender fluidity in an ultra masculine environment,” another person raved.
But wearing glamorous looks that veer toward femininity isn’t something new for Banda. Last May, Madonna posted a video of her son modelling a long, flowing white silk dress along with dark black sunglasses and white sneakers.
A sense of confidence and love for fashion has connected the two for years. In a 2018 interview with Vogue Italia, the mom of six expressed how much love she has for Banda.
“He’s the one I have the most in common with,” Madonna admitted. “I feel like he gets me; he has more of my DNA than any of my children so far.”
