Main Street Mattawa hosting Halloween event

·1 min read

Main Street Mattawa is preparing to dole out candy, chills, and thrills this Halloween eve, and all the little ghosts and ghouls are invited.

Parents are welcome too, of course, in fact all can come, as Main Street has enough tricks and treats to go around.

The event was initiated by Mattawa’s recreation department to have a fun Halloween event that involved the community.

Businesses are handing out candy, and various organizations will also be setting up tables on Main to guess what? Hand out candy.

And there’s more, as Mattawa’s fire department will also have a truck parked on Main and the firefighters will also be handing out candy.

Mattawa may never be the same after such a candy avalanche, but Chelsey Grant, Mattawa’s communications and digital strategies coordinator, is not concerned with any possible candy-induced repercussions and has been working hard to put on an unforgettable evening for the town.

“All the businesses are getting involved, there’s going to be music, and it’s going to be a good night,” she said.

Of course, kids are still welcome to trick or treat door to door, Grant emphasized, but this event provides another way to celebrate the spooky season.

“It’s our first time doing this on Main Street,” she said, and the support from the community has been strong.

“It’s exciting,” she said, noting the event is brand new to the town, a Mattawa first. “It will be a good atmosphere, lots of fun.”

And lots of candy.

Halloween on Main takes place October 31 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
