Mamma Mia! adds 2 matinee shows to final week

If you missed out on seeing the popular musical Mamma Mia! at the Confederation Center of the Arts, you've got another chance.

"We've got some excellent news for people that were looking for a ticket to Mamma Mia! and finding it hard to find. We're adding two matinees next week so ... that means there's 2,200 new tickets coming out onto the market," said theatre general manager Dean Constable.

He said tickets have been hard to get so it's a great chance for those who have left it to the last minute to buy tickets.

'We've been sold out'

The theatre can only add two more shows, he said, because other shows are scheduled to start in September.

"We were able to find a way to put two more shows into next week which will mean next week we will have nine shows of Mamma Mia! [that week]."

Constable said that's a lot for the cast because "Mamma Mia! takes an awful lot of energy" to perform.

While no official attendance numbers have been released to date, Constable said it's no secret how well the show did.

"We've been sold out. We started selling out for two shows in July and we've been sold out pretty much the entire month of August for the show."

Mamma Mia! opened June 1.
