Man, 21, killed in Danforth shooting

A 21-year-old man has died after being shot outside a restaurant in Toronto's east end.

Police received a call at 1:35 a.m. today about shots being fired in the doorway of the Rotana restaurant on Danforth Avenue near Coxwell, Det. Jeff Allington told reporters.

One man who shot in the abdomen was rushed to St. Michael's Hospital, where he later died.

Police say a second man was also injured at the scene, but not seriously.

A suspect or suspects fled the scene and it's believed they were travelling by car.

Police say there were several people outside the restaurant when the shooting occurred, but there has been little cooperation as officers attempt to gather information.

Danforth Avenue is closed from Coxwell to Monarch Park avenues as police investigate.
