Man, 22, charged with attempted murder

Police taped off the scene of the Magnus Avenue shooting in May.

A 22-year-old man is charged with a long list of offences in connection to a home invasion and shooting in Winnipeg in May.

The man was already in custody for another crime when police charged him for the May incident this week.

The latest charges include:

Attempted murder

Break and Enter with intent

Pointing a firearm

Reckless discharge of a firearm

Assault with a weapon (three counts)

Careless use of a firearm

Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose

Unauthorized possession of a firearm

Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition

Possession of a firearm contrary to a court order

A 25-year-old man was sent to hospital in stable condition after being shot at a home on Magnus Avenue in the city' North End during the May incident.

The home invasion happened in the early morning on May 11. There were five adults and two children in the home at the time.

In addition to the shooting, a canister of bear spray was discharged, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries to the residents, police said.
