Woman dead, 2 people badly hurt after major Scarborough collision

A man is dead after he was stabbed multiple times with a machete in North York, police said early Thursday.

Officers were called to the area around Yonge Street and Wedgewood Drive shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a fight.

They arrived to find a man with several stab wounds. Police said it is believed he was involved in the altercation that was initially reported.

Paramedics took the man to the trauma centre at Sunnybrook Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police have identified him as Nader Fadael, 45, of Toronto.

According to police, witnesses saw a person fleeing into a nearby alley after the fight. He is described as five-feet, eleven-inches with short dark hair. He was wearing a navy blue shirt at the time.

Toronto police's homicide unit has taken over the investigation. Anyone with potentially useful information is asked to contact police or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
