Man, 56, dies from injuries in rollover on Grant Avenue

A man who was critically injured in a rollover crash in Winnipeg on Wednesday has died.

The crash involving two pickup trucks happened just after 10 a.m. near the intersection of Grant Avenue and Lilac Street in the Fort Rouge area.

One of the vehicles rolled onto its roof and the driver, a 56-year-old man, was rushed to hospital.

Police said on Thursday that he died from his injuries.

There was no word about the condition of the other driver, but that person could face charges, said Const. Rob Carver.

"There is potential that there may be an arrest following this investigation, but that's somewhat preliminary [at this point]," he said.

The crash caused both lanes of Grant Avenue in that area to be shut down for much of the day.

Carver said the two drivers were the only people in the trucks.

The man who died was driving eastbound on Grant, towards Pembina Highway. The other truck was on Lilac, crossing Grant.

Investigators want to speak to people who witnessed the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call 204-986-7085 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
