Man, 71, dies following car fire in Quebec City

A 71-year-old man has died after he was pulled from a car on fire in Quebec City.

Local police and fire services received a call around 2:23 a.m. about a vehicle engulfed in flames on de La Pérade Street. At the scene, firefighters got the man out of the car before performing life-saving measures.

He was rushed to hospital where he later died.

The investigation was handed over to the Service de police de la Ville de Québec's major crimes unit, which established a perimeter as it works to understand the circumstances leading to the victim's death.

Police say that anyone with information should call 911 or its confidential tip line 418-641-2447.
