Man, 77, found dead in Toronto in woods 1 day after being reported missing

A 77-year-old man has been found dead in a wooded area in Don Mills Sunday, a day after he was reported missing to police.

Const. Caroline de Kloet, spokesperson for the Toronto Police Service, said the man was reported missing by his family on Saturday evening.

He was last seen on Friday at 11:30 p.m. in the Don Mills Road and York Mills Road area.

A police search began as soon as he was reported missing. Officers on horseback were involved in the search.

His body was found by officers in a wooded area near Duncan Mill and Lesmill Roads, which is close to Highway 401 and Leslie Street.

De Kloet said police are still notifying next of kin. An autopsy of the body will be performed.
