Surrey hit-and-run leads to arrest of B.C. man

Police have made an arrest in the hit-and-run incident involving two joggers in Surrey, B.C., Monday night.

Two women were sent to hospital with serious injuries after a white SUV hit them at an intersection and immediately left the scene.

RCMP say the suspect is a 53-year-old Surrey man and a charge of dangerous driving causing bodily harm is being recommended to the Crown. He is to appear in court in May 2013.

On Wednesday, police released intersection surveillance video of the collision, which they hoped would prompt tips from the public.

“The Surrey RCMP thank the public for their assistance during this investigation,” said Cpl. Bert Paquet. “They were instrumental in helping our officers put the pieces together and track down the alleged suspect.”

Police said they have seized the man's vehicle.
