Man arrested in Verdun for discharging a weapon

A 36-year-old man was arrested by Montreal police Wednesday night after shots were fired overnight in Verdun.

Police were called to the corner of LaSalle Boulevard and 5th Avenue at around 9:15 p.m. after residents reporting hearing gunshots.

"They did not find any victims or a suspect, however a perimeter was set up in the area," said Const. Abdullah Emran of the Montreal police.

Officers arrested a man inside an apartment.

He is expected to be charged with discharging a firearm.
