Man arrested after Whitehorse break-ins

Whitehorse RCMP say they have arrested one man after at least two businesses were broken into overnight.

Alarms were heard going off in the downtown early this morning, and Murdoch's Gem Shop on Main Street had a broken window. The Java Connection coffee shop on 3rd Avenue was also broken into.

Police have not released a full list of the businesses targeted overnight.

Police say the man arrested is not from Yukon. He was being held in custody, pending a court appearance.

Earlier this week, a window at the Bank of Montreal on Main Street was also broken. Nothing was reported stolen.
