Man attacked with sword rushed to hospital

Two men are in hospital after separate stabbings in the downtown core.

Paramedics were called to an apartment on Jarvis Street at about 6:30 p.m., where they found a 40-year-old man with life-threatening stab wounds. He was without vital signs and rushed to the trauma centre at St. Michael's Hospital.

About ten minutes later they were called to the nearby intersection of Church and Carlton streets where a 60-year-old man had been attacked on the street with a samurai sword, according to a spokeswoman for Toronto Paramedics.

He was suffering from serious injuries and was also rushed to St. Michael's.

It is not known whether the attacks are connected. Police at 51 Division are investigating.
