Police are investigating after a man reported he was shot in his vehicle on Wednesday evening in the east Ottawa suburb of Orléans.

Residents made at least two 911 calls about the incident shortly after 8 p.m., police say. The first call reported shots fired on Summerfields Crescent.

The second call came from a man saying he had been shot in his vehicle on that same side street, but he was able to drive himself to his own home nearby, according to police. Officers responded to both locations.

Paramedics say they took a man suffering from bullet wounds, who was in serious but stable condition, to the trauma centre at The Ottawa Hospital's Civic campus.

Nobody else was assessed at the scene, paramedics added, and police say there was no threat to public safety.

Investigators want to talk to anyone who may have information or video of the incident.
