MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Ontario's Special Investigations unit says the man at the centre of a probe involving Toronto police has died.
The SIU says it first began investigating last month when officers with the Toronto police force began following the man as part of an unspecified investigation.
They say several officers tried to take down a vehicle the man was driving on Jan. 18.
The SIU says a subsequent interaction saw multiple shots fired at the suspect.
The 37-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment, but the SIU says he died today.
The SIU is an agency that investigates all incidents involving police in which someone is killed, injured or accused of sexual assault.
