Man charged with 2nd-degree murder in Etobicoke stabbing

A man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a stabbing in Etobicoke Thursday morning.

The incident happened around 6:04 a.m. in the area of Lake Shore Boulevard W. and Islington Avenue, Toronto police said in a news release Friday evening.

Police said there was an altercation between a group of people outside. One man was located with life-threatening injuries.

He was taken to hospital, where he later died.

The victim has been identified as Jesse Christian Halvorsen, 36, of Toronto.

A second man, who was injured fled the area, the news release said.

Police said the man, 35, of Toronto, was located on Friday. He received medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries and was charged.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on Saturday morning.
