Man charged with attempted murder after Saturday incident

A 20-year-old Ottawa man has been charged with attempted murder linked to an incident on Saturday, a charge that came about after an "intentional" crash on Monday evening.

The Ottawa police guns and gangs unit first investigated the two-vehicle crash at Walkley Road and St. Laurent Boulevard at 10:30 p.m. Monday leading to an arrest and an officer seizing a gun.

Police said a car carrying two men intentionally struck another vehicle in an eastbound lane of Walkley, sending the other car onto the south curb of the road.

Nobody was hurt but the lone man in the struck vehicle was arrested, police said.

That man, who is 20, faces 10 firearm-related charges. He appeared in court on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, police said their investigation also led them to charge a separate 20-year-old man related to an incident involving a gun on Saturday.

That man was arrested and scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday for 15 charges, including attempted murder.
