Man charged with attempted murder after weekend stabbing
A Manitoba man faces attempted murder charges after a man was stabbed during a fight in central Edmonton yesterday.
Police say the altercation happened at around 1:15 a.m. near 122nd Avenue and 97th Street on Sunday. When emergency workers arrived, they found a man had been stabbed.
He was taken to hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Police have charged a 23-year-old man with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday. Homicide detectives have now taken over the investigation.
Police say the suspect and the victim did not seem to know one another. Alcohol is thought to have been involved.
