Man charged after cyclist struck, killed in Winnipeg

Police evidence markers are set out around the scene of a fatal crash between a cyclist and car in Winnipeg on Dec. 23.

A 32-year-old man is charged with impaired driving and fleeing the scene after being involved in a crash that killed a cyclist in Winnipeg on Sunday.

According to police, a man was riding a bike when he was struck by a vehicle on Regent Avenue West near Brewster Street at about 4 a.m.

The man was transported from the scene in critical condition but later died.

His name is not being released to the public as police are still trying to notify his family.

Regent was closed in both directions for several hours while officers investigated.
