A 23-year-old man from Rocky Mountain House is facing charges related to a hit-and-run collision that killed a 55-year-old pedestrian on the nearby Sunchild First Nation.
On the night of March 2, Rocky Mountain House RCMP responded to a report of a hit and run involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on the Sunchild First Nation.
Billy Joseph Yellowface was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses told police the vehicle did not stop and immediately left the scene after the crash, according to police.
Just over an hour later, police say they received a report of a vehicle burning at an abandoned residence one kilometre from the scene of the crash.
Investigators were able to link the two incidents.
RCMP have arrested and charged a Rocky Mountain House man with failing to remain at the scene of a collision and operating a vehicle while disqualified. He is remanded in custody until May 17, when he will make a court appearance.
