Man charged with manslaughter after assault at Toronto jail

A 54-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter after assaulting a fellow inmate at the Toronto South Detention Centre.

The assault happened on Thursday, police said in a news release Sunday.

Police say the victim was taken to hospital with injuries, where he died on Friday.

They identified the victim as Euplio Cusano, 69, of Toronto

The accused, also from Toronto, is scheduled to appear in court on Monday morning.

Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
