1 dead after daylight shooting in Mississauga, police also investigating fatal fire

A man is dead after being found with gunshot wounds near a Mississauga hotel on Friday morning, Peel police say.

Police say the man's body was found in the driver's seat of a bullet-riddled vehicle. The man, whose identity hasn't been released at this time, was pronounced dead at the scene.

There's now a large police presence in the area of Dundas Street East and Wharton Way as investigators try to determine what happened.

One person was taken into custody, however no charges have been filed, police told reporters near the scene.

Police are trying to figure out if the slain man had been staying at the hotel, which is also near a series of strip malls.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
