Man dead after pickup crashes into slough near Maple Creek, Sask.

RCMP probe suspicious death at Waterhen Lake First Nation

A man from the Consul, Sask., area is dead after his pickup truck went into a slough near Maple Creek.

It happened Thursday night near Highway 615, about 60 kilometres southwest of the town.

Maple Creek RCMP said they responded to a call of a vehicle in a slough at around 11:30 p.m. CST.

They found the truck flipped over on its roof. The 61-year-old lone occupant died at the scene.

Police belief the truck went through a barricade on the side of a low bridge before going into the slough.

Police haven't named the victim. An autopsy will take place next week, police said.
