Man dead after truck hits dirt bike in Maskwacis

Mounties find stolen ATM, but cash missing

A man is dead and a woman is in hospital after the dirt bike they were riding was hit by a pick up truck in Maskwacis early Sunday morning.

RCMP say the pick up truck collided with the dirt bike at around 4:20 a.m. on Highway 611, on the east side of the Samson Reserve in Maskwacis.

The male victim, who was riding as a passenger on the dirt bike, died at the scene. The female driver of the dirt bike was taken to hospital by STARS Air Ambulance, where she remains in stable condition.

The male driver of the pick up truck was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are now in the process of notifying the victim's family and Victim Services are offering support. RCMP say none of the identities of the victims will be released.

The cause of the collision has not been determined and police say all possible factors that led to the collision are being investigated.

Maskwacis is around 70 kilometres south of Edmonton.
