Man who died in Indian River ID'd as Robert D. MacKay

The 47-year-old man who died Monday night in Indian River in what is believed to be a drowning has been identified as Robert D. (Bobby) MacKay of Kensington.

The funeral will be held at the Davison Funeral Home in Kensington on Saturday afternoon.

MacKay was boating in the Indian River area with family and friends on Monday evening.

Police say after dropping the passengers off, he attempted to anchor the boat off-shore and may have gotten tangled in the line and ended up underwater.

The man's companions pulled him from the water and called for an ambulance. He could not be revived and died on the scene.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death, police said.
