A 65-year-old man was killed Saturday afternoon when his vehicle crashed into a tree on Littlerock Road, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office and the county coroner.

About 3:35 p.m., Michael L. Uphold was driving in the 16800 block of the Littlerock Road, north of Rochester.

The vehicle rolled over, struck a tree and then the tree fell onto the vehicle, Thurston Sheriff’s Sgt. Jeff Dehan said Sunday. It wasn’t immediately clear which direction Uphold was driving, he said.

The road was closed for about three hours during the investigation, Dehan said.

Coroner Gary Warnock said the man’s medical examination is set for Tuesday.
