Man dies following head-on collision on Île-Bizard bridge

Police find missing Montreal man in Quebec City

A man in his 60s is dead following a head-on collision this morning on the Jacques-Bizard Bridge, which connects Île-Bizard and Montreal.

According to an early analysis of the scene and witnesses, the man was driving north on Jacques-Bizard Boulevard  when a vehicle, traveling south, crossed over the line and stuck him, said Montreal police Const. Daniel Lacoursière.

A 24-year-old woman was behind the wheel he said. A woman in her 20s was in the passenger seat. Both suffered injuries.

Police believe speed and alcohol may have been factors in the crash.

"Some blood samples were taken from the 24 year old woman to determine if she had an illegal level in her blood," said Lacoursière.

The Jacques-Bizard Bridge was reopened to traffic early Sunday afternoon.
