Man facing weapons charges following fracas at George Street bar

Top Sask. RCMP officer defends calling off high-speed chase

A 22-year-old man faces two weapons-related charges, following an assault in downtown St. John's.

At 3 a.m. Sunday, Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers were called out to a disturbance at a bar on George Street.

Police said the suspect was located in the area of Gower Street where he was charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon dangerous to the pubic.

The man was held in custody awaiting a court appearance on Sunday morning.
