A private math tutor and his fiancée have been charged with gang sexual assault and sexual interference involving a 14-year-old girl, Toronto police say.

Kevin Chan, 32, and fiancée, Kayla Drumonde, 23, were arrested on Tuesday.

Chan was the girl's math tutor for a number of years, while Drumonde volunteered at the school the girl attended and the couple befriended the student.

Police said the girl was invited to the couple's home in the Lawrence Avenue East and The Donway East area on several occasions and was allegedly sexually assaulted there in the summer of 2014.

"It's a staggering breach of trust," said Const. Craig Brister. "It's disturbing that this type of thing happened."

Investigators are still working to clarify how many schools Chan has worked at.

They have released a list of some schools in the Toronto area he listed on his resume and is believed to have been affiliated with:

- Dr. Norman Bethune Collegiate – September 2000 to June 2001.

- Avondale Public School – September 2005 to November 2007.

- Willowdale Middle School – September 2008 to March 2009.

- Flemington Public School – March 2009 to June 2009.

- Light in the Attic Learning – 2011.

- Spirit of Math (two locations) – September 2011 to August 2014.

- Mathnasium of Don Mills – November 2014 to November 2015.

In a brief written statement Wednesday night, the Toronto District School Board told CBC News 'there is no record" Chan was ever officially an employee at a TDSB school.

"The only record we have indicates that he may have been a volunteer at one TDSB school — Avondale Public School — a number of a years ago,‎" said Ryan Bird, a media relations official with the board.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them directly at 416-808-7474 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.

The accused were scheduled to appear in court today and are expected to return to court on Thursday morning.
