Man found dead after ATV falls through ice on Buck Lake

Elderly Lakeshore woman scares off would-be robbers

A 61-year-old man from South Frontenac Township died Saturday after the all-terrain vehicle he was riding fell through the ice on Buck Lake, according to Ontario Provincial Police.

Police identify the man as Darrell Green.

OPP say Green was reported missing after he didn't show up to meet a family friend on Buck Lake, which is just over 30 kilometres north of Kingston.

The friend began to search the shoreline along the lake and saw a partially submerged ATV and a helmet on a narrow section of the lake, according to police.

South Frontenac firefighters found Green's body nearby.

OPP are investigating and do not suspect foul play.

Police are also searching for two men whose truck may have gone through the ice on Big Rideau Lake, less than 50 kilometres northeast of Buck Lake, over the weekend.
