Man injured in shooting at Raleigh Community Center, drives himself to hospital

A man was shot Thursday night outside of the Sanderford Road Community Center in Southeast Raleigh, and police are investigating how it happened.

The victim, unidentified, drove himself to the hospital with serious injuries, police told ABC11, The News & Observer’s newsgathering partner.

Police followed the driver until he crashed into a pole on Evers Drive, a nearby residential street.

The connection of the driver to the shooting is “undetermined.” The driver, unidentified by police, was hospitalized with serious injuries.

The News & Observer sent questions to the Raleigh Police Department seeking additional information.
