Man killed in fiery wreck Aug. 25 on southbound I-5 has been identified by coroner
A man who died in a fiery wreck on southbound Interstate 5 in Thurston County last month has been identified by the county coroner’s office.
About 4:15 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, Tony Avery, 40, of Centralia, was headed south on I-5 at a high speed, the Washington State Patrol said.
Troopers say Avery drove off the roadway south of the Maytown rest area where the vehicle came to a stop in the trees and caught on fire.
Avery died as the result of multiple blunt force injuries, Coroner Gary Warnock said. However, because of the fire, they needed to review dental records to identify the man, he said.
