Update: Victim identified in fatal crash in Fresno where truck fell onto highway below
A 47-year-old Fresno man was killed Tuesday morning after a vehicle he was in went airborne and onto another Fresno highway.
The crash happened at 5:30 a.m. on Highway 41 near 180 according to the California Highway Patrol.
Emergency personnel arrived and found a 2017 Toyota Tundra in the center median of Highway 41.
CHP spokesman Mike Salas said a 54-year-old driver was traveling west on 180 in heavy rain on the overpass above Highway 41 when he lost control, and veered to the left, striking a concrete bridge wall.
The Toyota became airborne after striking the wall and fell approximately 25-30 feet below onto the 41.
A 47-year-old passenger in the truck was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified Wednesday by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office as Sokhoeun Sem Long of Fresno.
The driver sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a hospital.
Salas said the driver was driving on a suspended license.
Alcohol or drugs are not suspected.
