Man kills wife’s sister and dad so he could lure her to funeral service and murder her

A man killed his wife’s sister and father so that he could lure her to their funeral service - where he also murdered her.

Samuel Velasco Gurrola wanted to stop his wife Ruth Sagredo Escobedo from testifying against him after he was charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child.

His method for getting to her was to hire a hitman in Mexico in 2008 to kill his father-in-law, Francisco Maria Sagredo Villareal, in an attempt to lure her to his funeral in Ciudad Juarez, a Mexican city that borders El Paso in Texas.

However, when that plan failed, Gurrola then arranged for his sister-in-law Cinthia Sagredo Escobedo to also be killed.

This time his wife ventured out for the funeral and Gurrola killed his wife while she was in the funeral procession and the sexual assault case against him was dropped.

But Gurrola has now been convicted of conspiracy to commit murder in a foreign country and conspiracy to cause foreign travel for murder for hire and will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
