Man points imitation firearm at woman's head, pulls trigger, police say

A 25-year-old man has been charged after allegedly pointing an imitation revolver at the head of his former employee's mother and pulling the trigger on Friday night, police say.

An altercation began on the front steps of a home on Damselfly Way in Barrhaven when a young former employee arrived with his parents to ask for payment.

"During this altercation, the suspect pulled out a revolver, pointed it at the [mother's] head and pulled the trigger. The weapon did not fire and the suspect retreated into his residence and locked the door," police said.

The family called police and the 25-year-old man was arrested at his home. Guns and gangs unit investigators then obtained a search warrant, which they executed early Saturday morning.

A 9-mm blank revolver that fires only blank ammunition was seized from the home along with blank ammunition, police said.

The 25-year-old Ottawa man has been charged with using an imitation firearm to commit an indictable offence, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and assault with a weapon.

He appeared in court Saturday morning.
