Man pronounced dead a week after shooting at gas station in Macon, deputies say.
A man has died about a week after he was shot at a Macon gas station, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.
The shooting allegedly happened in the early-morning hours of Sept. 14, the sheriff’s office said previously. Deputies responded to a report of a “person down” at Exxon gas station at 36 Spring St.
The victim was initially listed in critical but stable condition, the sheriff’s office said last week. But he was pronounced dead Monday at Atrium Health Navicent and family was notified, deputies said in a media release. The victim was identified as Tavarus Hunter, 40.
No one else was injured during the incident, the sheriff’s office said.
The shooting was still under investigation Monday. Anyone with related information was urged to call the sheriff’s office at 478-751-7500, or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
