Ottawa teen arrested in deadly shooting at Kingston motel

A 19-year-old Ottawa man is facing charges after a 39-year-old man was shot and killed at a motel in Kingston, Ont., early Wednesday morning.

Aaron Lewis was arrested shortly after the incident and is facing a second-degree murder charge.

Kingston Police said a report of a disturbance and shots fired at the Kozy Inn on Princess Street motel came in at about 1 a.m.

The victim has been identified by police as Jean-Guy Vincent, a resident of the motel.

Police said Lewis surrendered himself shortly after the incident around 2 a.m. He'll remain in custody until his court appearance Wednesday afternoon, police said.

'Horrible things'

A woman living at the motel said she's not surprised by what happened.

"I've seen so many horrible things happen here since I moved in," she said Wednesday. "On a daily basis there is probably people yelling and screaming in the parking lots, there's drug dealing galore."

"I've called the police several times ... I'm here because I have absolutely no other choice."

CBC agreed not to name the woman.

The major crime unit of Kingston Police is not looking for any other suspects, but said the investigation continues.
