Man stabbed to death at Burnaby homeless camp, 1 in custody

One man is dead and another injured after a double stabbing at a Burnaby homeless camp.

Burnaby RCMP say a 53-year-old man was arrested at the scene and could be facing homicide-related charges. They also say the suspect was known to the victims.

"At this early stage, this incident appears to be a targeted attack between individuals known to each other," said Cpl. Meghan Foster.

"Police are looking to obtain information about the events leading up to this homicide and are asking anyone with information to come forward."

Police were to a call to a wooded area near Rumble Street and Griffith Drive just after 8:00 p.m. PT Monday evening where the two victims were discovered.

One was pronounced dead at the scene; the other was treated in hospital and has since been released.

Police say there is no connection between this homicide and that of Kevin Knuff at a nearby homeless camp Oct. 9.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over the investigation.
