Man suffers life-threatening injuries after being crushed at steel plant

A man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after being crushed at Samuel Steel in Burlington.

According to the Halton Regional Police Service, the call about the incident came in at 9:23 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say a man in his 50s became trapped under a steel coil. Crews requested a 20-tonne hydraulic press from Toronto Fire to free the man.

The man was transported to Hamilton General Hospital.

Police say no criminality is involved. The Ministry of Labour has been notified.
